My Little Man

We found out today we are having a BOY!! It is so exciting!! I think Nate is pretty excited about a new sports fan in the family! We have already purchased a 3/6 months Mavs warm up which will be perfect timing come Jan/Feb of next year when the Mavs start their season! I will be uplaoding pictures from the sonogram tomorrow when I get to work since I dont have a scanner at home but we got some pretty good shots of the profile. While we were watching he was sucking his thumb at one point, had the hicups, and was kicking like crazy. I can't feel kicking or moving yet due to the position of him and some other things but they said I should be able to start feeling movement in the next couple of weeks! And now to see how our little man is growing at 19.5 weeks!

Sleep...I need more!

So for the past couple of weeks I have been training myself to sleep on my sides! You see this is NOT something I do. I sleep on my stomach at all times, I start that way, I wake up that way. I tuck my hands neatly under my pillow and doze away so very comfortable. Lately...not the case! I can no longer sleep on my stomach. It is horrible and so uncomfortable and I can imagine it will only get worse. Hence, training myselft to sleep on my sides.

Seriously...how do you side sleepers do it? I am constantly turning, flip flopping back and forth. My legs touch each other (something I am not a fan of) and where in the world do you put your arms? I cant figure it out for the life of me and I am quite sure I have no idea how I am going to do this for the next 5 months! Oh and then when you get really big you are supposed to sleep on your left side (which by the way is the more uncomforrable side for me).

So if you could, please keep my side sleeping delima in your prayers. I am pretty sure this will be the last few months of wonderful, glorious sleep I am going to get and so far I am very disappointed!

Oh and a little update...we find out what we are having in 5 days from today! So amazing! I will be posting a 20 week belly shot at the end of next week and we have narrowed the furniture down to the 2nd and 3rd pictures in the post below. We will be purchasing that next week because they are having a sale! You can thank Jana for this lovely update! :)

Boy or Girl...What do you think?

So three weeks from today, May 28th, we are going to find out if we are having a boy or a girl! Use the poll on the right to tell us what you think!

In other news, I went back to the doctor again today and everything looks good. I am starting to look a little pregnant but I still think it looks like I am just chubby! Hopefully in the next few weeks we can post some shots of the growing belly. We will see though...they still have to look ok for me to put them out on the world wide web! 17 weeks and counting!

Shopping

Last weekend Nate and I ventured out into the world of nursery furniture and bedding. My mom and sister were able to come with us and help us walk through the many isles of selections. It was a little overwheleming for sure, how in the world are you supposed to choose? Oh, and boy do these people have a corner on the market...this stuff costs a lot of money, but it is so cute! So we narrowed it down the 3 different furniture selections and then I found the bedding that I LOVE for a girl but I am pretty sure I am going to have a boy so we will see! Here are our choices...feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you like!

Ode to Chicken Tenders

So, when I first got pregnant, I thought to myself, "Self, I am not going to be one of those pregnant women who eats badly just because they can. I am going to eat healthy, vegetables, lean protein, workout, etc." Are you serious?? Why doesnt anyone tell you that when you get pregnant the thought of eating lean protein and vegetables makes you want to vomit! For the past few weeks I have had an aversion to grilled chicken, not fried, basted, roasted, etc...just grilled...you know the kinda that is good for you! Yeah, cant look at it, smell it and I am surely not going to eat it. But chicken tenders on the other hand have become my best friend, really, I could eat them everyday! They are so good! Well chicken tenders, french fries, ice cream, pizza, they are all so good.

Oh and I think I have recently discoved that my right leg is hollow...lately it doesnt matter how much I eat, good or bad, I just dont feel full. I mean I will stop eating (after 3 pieces of pizza and 5 breadsticks) but it is just because I think..."Melissa, 3 pieces of pizza and 5 breadsticks is A LOT of food." Nate just laughs...which is so sweet, if he did or said anything else I might have to kill him. :)

So here is my ode to chicken tenders and everything that is not good for you...OH HOW I LOVE YOU!

Coolest Appointment Yet!

So yesterday we went back to the doctor and we got the hear the heartbeat! It was so wonderful just to hear it and know everything is ok! My doctor said it sounded great and scheduled me for my next appt in 4 weeks.
Then the fun part started. We had a special test called a NT scan done where they have to do another sonogram. So we got to see our little one at 12 weeks 4 days. I cant believe how much has changed in 1 month. It is truly amazing! In the picture below you can see the profile...the nose, jaw bones, brain, and the spinal cord! We found out yesterday that we wont find out the gender until June, which made me a little sad just because I am so ready to start picking out furniture and bedding! I have very different ideas for a boy or girl so I will just have to be patient and wait.
Nate is also getting really excited, which is so fun. I know it can be hard for the guys since they dont feel any different and probably dont think about it as much as we do!

Baby's First Picture

We got to see our baby for the first time last week. It was so much fun and so amazing! Nate came with me and we were able to see it moving and see the heartbeat. I was really, really nervous so it made the baby's heart rate increase as well, it was 193!! That is really high and I am hoping everything is ok. I go back tomorrow to have my first appointment with the doctor. I am not really sure what they are going to do or why I am going but I should come back with more info and I am going to ask about the high heart rate for sure. We also found out that I am not as far along as we thought, I am going to be 9 weeks tomorrow instead of 11 on Friday so hopefully I will also get my new due date. I am thinking it is going to be somwhere between Oct. 19th and 22nd. It aslo means that we are not going to tell people for a little while longer which is really going to kill me but I can make it! The picture of Nate and I is a self portrait right before our appt and then the other is of course the baby...it looked much better on the monitor at the doctors office. Hopefully the next one will be a little bit more clear...it will be the one where we find out boy or girl! What a fun day!
